It was delivered on time (ordered Labor Day Monday – received Friday – WOW!) from Amazon’s shipper in pristine condition. The delivery personnel put it where I wanted and asked if I wanted it unpacked (which I did not – wasn’t ready to hang yet). As we unpacked it my son easily assembled the base unit though I planned to hang it on a Chief Mfg. articulating wall mount. We had it hung in no time. This 55 inch unit is 7 pounds lighter than the 40 inch Sony KDL40XBR3 LCD TV it replaced! The set-up was a snap and we easily hooked it up wirelessly to our network. It is hooked up to our HD cable box and a 3D blu-ray player. Turned on the TV and selected a cable channel and we were dazzled. The clarity of this TV is phenomenal in the factory setting – it really is like looking through a window. The problem with that setting though is that there appears to be some motion ghosting/trailing, and the background is jerky in scenes where the camera is following a character as he/she moves. A few criteria that were important to me are 1080p resolution and 120hz display, next priority are the inputs available and visual quality, and a few nice to have features were LED illuminated and speaker sound quality. This TV delivers all those in spades, and even more I didn’t even consider! I had been considering cheaper sets, but after being tempted by the 32″ 3D Vizio TV at Walmart for $500 (only 60hz), my budget stretched to include this one for the same price at Sams Club and Amazon. I’m glad I did too, as it has everything I was looking for, and then some: 1) 1080p display 2) 120hz “smoothmotion” capability 3) Component, Composite, VGA, RF tuner, and 4 HDMI inputs, plus 3 USB ports. Only lacking S-Video, and no HDMI switchbox needed 4) Great picture so far, even unadjusted from defaults 5) Edge-lit LED display 6) The speakers have room to breathe, so they sound better than the skinny TVs now common 7) Vizio Internet Apps; no “box” needed for Netflix or Amazon streaming – I had been looking at Roku and other STBs, this saves me $60-100, and 1 less remote to deal with

I was happy with Amazon’s sooner than expected delivery BUT very unhappy with FedEx’s treatment of packages! After testing, I was glad everything worked and the image was very clear. Things that should be in the manual but weren’t (from personal experience): 1) When configuring the remote control use a RCA setting such as RCA L32HD41 2) When connecting a computer via HDMI, use “no Overscan” or you’ll crop corners off your display 3) When using the VGA connection, to get the full 1080P display, not the default 720P resolution or less than 1366×768, you have to manually force a 1920×1080 display by unchecking “Hide modes that this monitor cannot display” in Windows 7′s Display/Screen Resolution/Advanced Settings/Monitor under Control Panel. Hopefully the next firmware update can fix this because the TV is reporting to the computer a lower supported resolution than it can handle.
